You probably will have noticed that the forums have changed again. Now they're contained within a new design - well don't worry (unless you're seeing a lot of red x's, then do worry).
This change is because the release of version 3 of the official site will be very soon, and this is the layout we are going with. We wanted to keep the forums and the main site similar, so now they both have the same header and footer .
The layout of V.3 of the site is practically done, its just filling in content left to do. I estimate that it should be official in between 1 and 7 days. Most people have seen the new site preview... if you haven't - http://www.dotagame.com/digipix (NOTE - If I want to hide this again I might put a password over it so only i can access it).
So, in this thread, you can tell me what you think of the new site, and what you think of the new forum idea, or report bugs. One thing is that I couldn't add the multiple styles, because the phpBB header and footer are html. Anyone know a way round this (GPHemsley )?
Remember - on the official site, press one of the two squares (cream or blue) in the top right corner to switch between styles. And also, Digipix is a temp. name
Update - We got a new cream logo for our possible team name. Thanks to Olsen for the drawing of the professor _________________

What do you use to change the styles on the main site? Just make a page that grabs the referer and the style to change to, updates the user's information in the database, and then redirects back to the original page. _________________ Gordon P. Hemsley

I wasn't doing it with databases, I was using cookies. And the problem is, I can't use the cookie variable thing to choose which stylesheet to include. I'm not advanced enough with phpBB to make a new style tracker for each user.
My line for the style sheet needs to be:
Code: | href="location/of/css/<?=$current_style?>.css" |
But the phpBB headers are html so don't understand the variable (which is in a cookie) _________________

Can't you edit the phpBB skin thing to make it look sexy? That can't be too hard? I've started doing it for my site with my Invision one..(and your skills > my skills, so you should be able to do it). _________________ aiii |

Edit the phpBB skin? You mean make a new template? That's kind of what I did already, but i don't want to change the graphics and everything, because that takes a long time. _________________

I know you weren't doing the regular site with the database, but I'm saying for the forum, use the database, because that's where the user's style is stored for phpBB. In fact, maybe you can switch the main site to grabbing the user's style choice from the database. _________________ Gordon P. Hemsley

Well, I love the way v.3 is looking, I like the blue color of the header at the top of the page. (BTW- I like the colored pic of the hallway...did I ever see that before?)
Like I said in the other thread about the company name, the yellow/cream/whatever color in the header at the top of the forum I can't say I like as much as the one on v3 of the site itself. The color of it just seems a little....out of place on the forum. Like I said, it should be a blue or red theme, IMO...right now, it looks...ugly to me, to say the least.
Just sharing what I think- I don't want to sound excessively picky or that things have to be done my way or not at all, b/c that's obviously not the case, so please don't think I'm trying to control the situation or anything...b/c when I read back on my post it sounds like that to me, but trust me I'm not, lol.
Just putting in my two cents.
Other than the color of the header at the top of the forum, everything looks great IMO. Nice job. _________________ puzzle designer. moderator.

I've been trying to swap the theme on the froums to blue, but unfortunately there are problems with the style sheet, and the dark blue background doesn't show (it's white). When I fix these problems, I'll switch. _________________

Oh, and one more thing I found was that the contrast between the dark blue surroundings and the bright style of the forums didn't look very good. So before I apply the blue style I probably should make a new style for the forums using dark blue colours. _________________
