Anyone played it yet? For those who have played the pre-quels to the game it plays quite similar but the differnce is that it is more action orientated, and basically more choices and stuff, and these differences make a whole lot more fun. Well got it 2 weeks ago and it is really fun, its more of a multiplayer game rather than a single player as the single player mode is simply a matter of joining a server with bots where as in the multiplayer mode you are actually gaining points for stuff like healing people, reviving if you are a medic and points for killing peiople as well. These points that you gain are used to gain a higher rank since you start of with the lowest rank, as you gain higher rank you are more likely to get a place to be commander which is where you can command certain squads and choose when to fire heavy artillery at the opponet. The game mod is kinda like capture the flag or king of the hill base style where your faction and the enemy faction battle against each other to try and capture bases in the map, whoever captures all the bases and killls the enemy wins or if you take over the bases for the longest time wins. note: once u captue a base you can spawn there after each death.
There are also several classes which you can choose from depending on your preference, these include, assalt, sniper, medic, engineer, support and antitank. These clases are well balanced and there is no 'elite' guy whocant be taken down, so no more "YOU'RE SUCH A F****** NOOB! STOP AWPING ." etc. since it is relatively easy to take anyone down. Also camping in battlefield 2 really doesnt pay off since the map is so big and its jus hard to find anyone run across your cross hair before them spotting you. Oh yeh did I mention there are about 20 vehicles? (i think) from fat tanks to helicopters which are very cool to play in also teammates can back you up by getting into your vehicle and using what ever weapon they can get their hands on.
Well that was how fun and good the game is but obviously all games have their bad and goods so here are the bad things.
Since you spawn when you die it gets quite annoying if someone keeps killing you as soon as you spawn but i guss if that keeps happening i guess there are other bases you can spawn to. Also since you unlock new weapons as you progress it gives a disadvanage to people who are at a lower rank,. however at least it gives you a goal to try and achieve something so im not too sure if thats a good or bad thing.
Anyway i cant really explain everything about it, not that i want to but it is a game that reccomend and you really ought to try it. Also at least try the demo even if you arent persuaded (500mb download though ) _________________ Screw you suckers!!!! |

I downloaded and tried out the demo of it. I agree it was a good, fun game, but I decided not to buy the game.
I agree it can be a lot of fun, with the vehicles and everything, but I guess I prefer games like Counter-Strike: Source with the smaller maps which have planned out main routes, as oppose to the huge open levels in Battlefield 2. I just don't really like those types of games where you end up having to run for ages between two bases because there are no vehicles left. I prefer the simple fast paced atmosphere of CSS.
Also, I've heard a lot of people criticising the rank system. Apparently if you're a medic you'd have to heal 16 million people to reach the top rank, where you unlock extra weapons. I don't really think unlockable stuff is really in place in a FPS game like that. It just gives a further advantage to the people who waste their time playing it all day.
So, I agree it's a good game, but if I want something like that, I'll just wait for Day of Defeat: Source _________________

I would be playing the Battlefield 2 Demo now if it weren't for the fact that my video card is outdated. Which is the ONLY thing that prevent me from playing it.
Damn the steep tech requirements. DAMN IT! |

Here's that post I was talking about from the PlanetBattlefield 2 forums:
Quote: | To advance to PFC: 500 total (+500)
To advance to Lance Corporal: 1000 total (+500)
To advance to Corporal: 11,000 total (+10,000)
To advance to Sergeant: 21,000 total (+10,000)
To advance to Staff Sergeant: 221,000 total (+200,000)
To advance to Gunnery Sergeant: 421,000 total (+200,000)
To advance to Master/First Sergeant: 4,421,000 total (+4,000,000)
To advance to Sergeant Major: 8,421,000 total (+4,000,000)
To advance to Master Gunnery Sergeant: 88,421,000 total (+80,000,000)
To advance to Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps: 168,421,000 total (+80,000,000)
Ok, so, if the best person in the entire world gets 12,000 points per week, it would take him 14,035 weeks to advance to Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps. That's 270 YEARS!! |
Good luck getting to those _________________

lol that does take ages but who cares, ranks arent all that important anyway, if you had a high rank it only means that you are more likely to be a commander thats all. _________________ Screw you suckers!!!! |

Apparently the ranks also unlock you extra weapons for use as infantry (which is the most common class)...? _________________

yeh for a certain rank you get to unlock 'one' weapon but it doesn't really necessary make it very unfair. what do mean 'whats the most common class'? weapons or infantry? _________________ Screw you suckers!!!! |

Sorry, I meant:
Quote: | Apparently the ranks also unlock you extra weapons, and they can be used while you are infantry which is the most common class and what you'll play as throughout most of the game. Is this true? |
But you already answered the question so it's ok now _________________

Oh yeh you can have on some servers where you can use any unlockable weapons so i guess if you really think it's THAT unfair go on them servers. _________________ Screw you suckers!!!! |
