Jus started learning to make a map a rfew days ago and now im ready (i think) to make a proper one. Well the map im gonna be making is gonna take place in a prison, it will have 3 floors, the cts will come from the top floor and the ts will be at the bottom with the hostages locked up in prison cells. There will be at least two paths (planning to make 3) to get to each floor and it'll be cool Cool . Anyway after the beta versions have been released plz give me some suggestions and what you think of it. Thx Wink

I voted for "fy_cell", basing it on the one I played, not the new one you are making Razz. fy_prizon sounds cool though, as it is a prison after all Razz

What do you mean 'based on the one you played'? Is there another map with the prison theme or are you talking about the first map that I made?

My vote goes with fy_dungeon as from your description it sounds more like one. BTW, just a suggestiong, if there are 3 floors, why not have two normal ways up and down it, and one long ladder in the middle? It'd be so fun trying to get down..... and then dying.

Im using the map as a fy for the betas because i need to test the map first then in the last few version it would be converted to cs where u go round saving the hostages.

What im planning to do is have 2 main routes and one vent route, if there was a long ladder in the middle wouldn't that be a bit pointless?

I played his map by the way, it's starting off pretty well for your first real map. But I wouldn't recommend going straight into big maps. Start with something simple like fy_dust (a remake of de_dust but smaller and using it's textures). That way you'll get used to the tools and stuff.

Well im getting pretty use to the tools now so I dont think its a real problem and anyway I can't think of a gd small map that hasn't been done. Mad

It doesn't matter if the map has been done or not. You won't really be able to make a masterpiece with your first map. There are a lot of tools that you should know how to use before attempting a real map. For example - ever used the Paint Geometry and Paint Alpha tools? Wink.

I made about 5 pretty small maps before officemini.
