how about this? you're a young boy (or girl, you can choose at the beginning (possibly)), and you're living in a small town. suddenly, one of the biggest stories nationwide originates in your town- three children have been kidnapped and are being held for a ransom (is that the right terminology?). the reason this is so big is that there are only about 130 people in your town, of which about 40 are adults, really narrowing it down. the town is in chaos and nobody has a clue who could've done it.

btw- these three children happen to be your friends. so you get together w/a group of your other friends, maybe 5 other people, and you try to solve this mystery while everyone else is paralyzed w/fear. you walk around town, and you have a little contact device...let's make it a cell phone. you can call your friends and tell them to investigate other areas and see if they find anything. you can talk to people throughout town and see if they know things. there can be speech bubbles and you can take what they say and "rip it off" w/your mouse and drop it onto a notepad, so you can refer to things people said.

and while your other friends are looking for things, the kidnapper takes them away, slowly, one by one. and he writes a little poem where they were kidnapped to kind of trick you or give subtle hints, like the sniper shooting in washington, d.c., you know? how they left the tarot card, the death one? anyway, it could be stuff like that. and sometimes, maybe you're talking w/them on the cell phone and then you hear "oh my god!" and then nothing. so your friends slowly get eliminated as you figure more things out. until it's just you left and by then you should have enough clues to figure out who it is. and then once you do, you go to the police station and give the clues, they investigate it, and then you're done, there's some finishing cutscene or something. and maybe the murderer is somebody really close to you or something. i don't know.

so what does everybody think? Smile

I like that idea. But it could get a bit boring being in the town for the whole game, don't you think? So how about you realise that the guy who did is trying to escape on a ship, and you have to sneak on that ship? Something like that which is adventurous and brings you to more locations.

okay. or he's going to hijack a plane, like someone overhears, and then you get your friends together, get on the flight, and then end up in another city or country or something somewhere? that sounds better.

one of the possibilities - once we get a few we can go through them and get the best.

One little problem.... There's an average of 4 or 5 kids per family....

40 adults
Assuming 20 men and 20 women (20 couples)
90 children (130 total - 40 adults)
90 / 20 = 4.5

Or, maybe it's not a problem.... But definitely something to think over....

well, i just posted some random numbers. some people have 4 or 5 kids. and either way, we're talking about a town w/130 people, in a super-rural area. they're probably hillbillies stuck in the 1800's where they had 11 kids per family *shrug*

we can change the numbers around, i was just saying whatever. how about 60 adults, and 70 kids. that's about 1 kid per adult, 2 kids a family.

Here are the other ideas:

Well, I've been thinking about this for a while... You see, for a long time I've wanted to make a Monkey Island fan-game, but the problem is, I have no artistic talent. A few years ago I got into a discussion about how the games were connected, and started writing a fan-fic:

http://www.meleepta.us.tf/story.html

Well, it's crap, but, that's my fan-fic on my "under-construction" fan-site. Once I learned that people could make their own adventure games for free using a program like AGS, which at the time I thought was the coolest thing since sliced bread, I've wanted to turn my fan-fic into a fan-game. Well, I have most of the storylines for 5 potential games, the "inbetween" monkey island games (ie. 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, and 5.0) in my mind, and I could easily turn them into a script for the games, however like I said, I've got NO artistic talent, so, if you want it, the project is yours...

http://meleepta.proboards27.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general& num=1077107650&start=15

Well, those two pages are all I've got on the project so far, so if you want it, the project is yours!

Lol i have got an idea let's make a game That is like "you're a developer of a game and you must get it on the market but you can get more games on the market so you must Decide !"

why dont you make an rpg? time travel? get rid of a lot of the errors of recent rpg's. ie. random battles. 2D rpg's are the best. Make it so you can see your enemys? There are hardly any proper online rpg's, so you wouldn't have much competetion.

how bout something like a cross between an rpg game and a adventure game. something like final fantasy gameplay for the rpg part and grimfantango gameplay for the adventure part .

well, i was thinking maybe a game where you're in a tropical paradise...like hawaii or tahiti or something. and there's the "bad guys", right? the bad guys have a series of burrowers plotted around the world, and once all six of the burrowers reach the core of the earth, all the burrowers explode. and they're huge machines that look kind of like those things they used to make the chunnel...and they should all explode and cause a series of earthquakes around the whole world, killing everybody on the planet. what you have to do is travel around to the various points. and the points could be scattered kind of evenly, like one in russia, one in iceland, one in the u.s., one in brazil, one in central africa, and one in australia or something. and on the island you find a secret hidden power, there could be some name for it and then that would be the name of the game. and you use this for various things, you can kill certain enemies with it or whatever and you use it to destroy the burrowers before they reach the center of the earth. and here's the best part:

the whole game could be on a time limit. you can always check your watch, and you have something like 24 hours to complete the game.

it won't be a voting poll though - in this one you will have to reply in a post saying which you chose, and why
