I have to dedicate this thread to the amazingness of Half Life 2. I just got the new PC Gamer to read the review, and it sounds so good. It got 96% (highest score ever, except drawn with HL1). PC Zone gave HL2 97%, highest score ever. They all say how amazing it is, and how games will never be this good again.

I just watched one of the direct feed movies from the DVD, and the atmosphere, graphics and realism are so good.... There are loads of HL2 movies and screenshots on the PC Gamer disc, so if you can, you should get it.

And buy Half Life 2

Hype and graphics is not everything.

Although it's likely to be good, there's been quite a few "amazing" games which turned out rubbish..

Yeah, but as the review said, the story, characters etc. are also great...

I don't think anyone thought that was going to be an amazing game - all the first reviews gave it low marks - 3 magazines have already reviewed HL2, and have all given it over 90%

I didn't forget it, I just didn't mention it because it isn't one of the most well known magazines.

Super Mario 64 will always be the best game ever... o well

HL2 looks okish.... predomenantly single player though, or mebbe not, but a lot of effort has gone into it and i tend to msotly play the multi player on shoot-em-ups...

Counter-Strike Source is Half life 2's multiplayer, which a lot of people think is the best multiplayer FPS ever. There are also loads of mods going to be made, including the official WW2 mod "Day of Defeat"

It was an ok game but i dont think it was hyped up to much in fact i think it went quite un-noiced and the thing is it isnt anything new so people will always go for the games in the genere that have always pleased like the GTA series.

PC Gamer US say that it was a perfect game, but the most they are going to give any game is 98%, because they can't give a perfect score. The reviewer wanted to give it 100%, but the rest of the team didn't want to put perfect scores in the magazine Sad

They said they searched really hard for something to put in the Cons section, but all they could find was "sometimes your squad get slightly in your way" Very Happy

erm... ther is no hl2 release date yet, so i don't know how you know that Football Manager is coming out on the same day Razz.

You can however pre order it off Steam, and then you get to play Counter Strike Source straight away, and preload hl2, so when it becomes avaliable you play straight away.
