Here is a new game that should really stretch your mind . We'll do some logic puzzles. I'lll post them all, and first person to get each one right wins 10 point. Here is the first one:
You are staying on your own in a new house. On the 2nd floor there is a lamp. In the basement there are 3 switches, and one of them switches on the lamp, but you don't know which one. You can switch them on and off as many times as you like, but you can only go and check the lamp once. After checking you should now know which is the switch for the lamp.
If no one gets it soon, i will say the answer. And no cheating by searching for the answer. Oh yeah, and alos, the same person can;t win twice in a row. _________________

I got it:
Nothing
(Highlight it if you can't read it - but I didn't want to spoil it for other people).
Now back to the official puzzle. _________________

if you pressed 2 at the smae time, went upstairs, hwo would you tell which one it is. If it is on, then you would not be able to tell if it was the first switch or the second. _________________

I believe i saw this one on TV once...
The answer is: you gotta switch on the first switch, then you wait for about 10 minutes, then you switch it off and turn on the 2nd switch. Then you go upstairs and check if the light is on, if the light is hot, it's the first switch. If the light is on it's the second switch and if the light isn't on or hot, it's the third switch that turns on the light
Highlight if you wanna know the answer |

Yeah. Well done. Here is a new one:
You've been sentenced to death in an obscure foreign country which has a strange law. Before the sentence is carried out, two papers...one with 'LIFE' written on it and one with 'DEATH' written on it...are folded up and placed in a hat. You are permitted to pick out one of the papers (without looking) and if you choose the one with 'LIFE' written on it, you are set free. Otherwise, the death sentence is carried out. But someone has substituted the paper with 'LIFE' written on it with another one with 'DEATH' written on it. You are informed by this person of what he has done and that you are doomed to die.
You are not permitted to speak to anyone about this misdeed, nor will you have a chance to switch the papers yourself in time.
How will you avoid death? _________________

hey, this is in a mensa genius quiz book i have. in case none of you knew, i was a member of mensa (the high i.q. society) from when i was 6 to when i was 11. then my membership expired and we never bothered to apply again *shrug*. anyway, here's the answer: you pull out one slip from the hat and tear it up immediately. you have the guy with the hat pull out the other slip. it will say "death" which means you must have pulled out "life". i don't know who could think that fast of a way to get out of it, but that's a pretty tricky one. _________________ puzzle designer. moderator.

I think that the farmer carried the heavyest sack, cus the farmer was carrying a sac of grain, but you didn't say if the hired help was carrying 2 empty sack or 2 full sacks, i asume that if the sack were full, you'd say they were full. So the farmer carried the heavyest sack cus it was full and the hired help carried the least weight cus the sacks were empty... Well, at least that's what I think |
