what do you mean by "hidden images"? do you mean a completely separate image, or do you mean the normal-looking image is really kind of like a double image? _________________ puzzle designer. moderator.

If you hightligh it, a completely new image will come through.
And, Steve, here is how you make it:
- Start up Photoshop (I am using v.7, so you might have to do it slightly differenly if you are using a different version).
- Create a new image with three layers. The first layer the main image (best if it is really active, and not plain), then second layer the hidden image (I found it works best if this image is in black and white).
- Then on the third layer, a checker board pattern of black, blank, black, black pixels. Make sure it goes like that horizontally and vertically. If you are having trouble doing this, here is an easy way:
- Create a new document that is 2x2 pixels, then zoom in to 1600%. Make the pattern so it is black blank, then on the second line, blank black. Then in the menu, go to "Edit >> Define Pattern". Then on your real image, go to the third layer, and choose "Edit >> Fill", and fill it in these settings:
- Use: Pattern
Custom Pattern: *image of your checker pattern*
Mode: Exclusion
Opacity: 100%
- Then press OK. If your pattern goes black-white instead of black, blank, get the magic eraser, untick anti-aliased, contigous and use all layers, and click on one of the white squares.
- Then activate the second layer (hidden image), hold Ctrl and click the third layer, then press delete. This will have applied the mask to the hidden image, deleting every second pixel. Then hide the third layer.
- (If you are having some moving diagonal lines which look annoying, press Ctr+A to get rid of them). Then highlight layer to, and press Ctrl+L. This lets you adjust the levels. You need the two arrows on the black->white gradient to be somewhere close to each other, until you can't make out the hidden picture in the preview. If you move them both closer to the black end, it goes darker, and vice versa with the white end.
- Once you are happy with it, save it as a 128 colour gif
Hope you understood that. Have fun making your hidden images everyone. That may have seemed long, but once you know it, it really isn't that hard to remember.
And, btw, that tutorial is completely exclusive to this site . I worked out how to do it myself, so you won't find that tutorial anywhere else on the net
If you work out something to do that will make it better, or that makes it easier, please post it here, seeing as I posted how to do it _________________

yeah, i mean, in most reviews the main critisism is the fact that you can't view hidden images with it. _________________

Unlike some of you, I'm not saying firefox is "omg suxx0rage lololo!!!!11"§$%2" I'm just saying internet explorer is superior in some ways, and so is firefox
