Forums Revamped!

I have completely revamped the forums!

Firstly, I added a new style, called "Site Blue", which has the same colourscheme as the main site, and goes well with it. To go along with that, I added a new header, which has a transparent background so that it goes with any style.

I made the buttons at top of the page transparent in the background, so that they fit on any style. I also made the forums a fixed width of 750 pixels, which makes the forums look neater. I added google ads to the bottom of every page on the forum, and moved the ads on the main site to the bottom of the page. (The ads help keep the site running).

The only thing i need now is new images for the "New topic", "Sticky" etc. icons, which work with any style and don't have white spots around the edges.

Some of you may not agree with some of the changes I have made, so here is the origional topic where you can discuss the styles. When the style is finished off, I'll probably make it the default forum style, unless people don't want that...?

Oh, and I added a poll for "which is your favourite style"

It doesn't work for people using internet explorer. I'm working on fixing it, but, for people with firefox the light blue backgrounds are transparent.

On Firefox it looks pretty good. However, most of the buttons (the ones which are graphics) and also your thing James which says "Site Admin" and those stars look very rough around the edges.

yeah, me and Steve are working on fixing those images.... they'll look less smooth that they used to, but they won't have those white spots around the outside.

Can you just not make them un-transparent but with the same background as the forum background? I'm pretty sure you can put certain graphics into the theme's folder on the FTP?

that's the problem. I asked on phpbb.com forums, but i only created a new theme, and you can't have a new imageset for a different theme. That would require creating a new template, which i really can't do. But with the next version of phpBB they are making the themes/styles management a lot better, and you can have different imagesets.
