Xfire - Sig image for CSS stats!

Hey,

I found this cool thing, called Xfire, which allows you to chat to people in CSS (or ANY game), whether you are playing or not, and for some games, including CSS, if you are playing, it shows the person you are chatting to the server's IP!. This is really useful if you want to find someone while they are playing. It also counts the amount of time you have played for, and is tres tres cool.

You can see my sig image in my signature, and my main profile is found here. It's very cool, and the more people who get it, the better . It's also useful if you are playing against some friends and your connection with the server is lost, as you can still chat .

That's pretty cool, maybe we should get it for the clan match. How do you talk while playing? Do you have to play windowed?

. To talk while playing, you leave it running as a background process, and then press a key combination (defult to scroll lock +x, but I now have alt+\) to active the window, which you can select someone to talk to or reply to. Once you have replied, you can toggle it off, and keep playing. When you get a new message, a small notification window will appear (which you can set the opacy of, and the position), which tells you what your friend has said, and gives you the option of replying . I was suprised at the coolness of it - I thought you would have to play window'd too, but you don't.

The other great feature of it is that you don't have to be in a game to play it - while just chatting normally you can speak to anyone playing their game, and check the game they are playing and their server's IP. It also has an option for AFK, which is very useful .

But, the sig image looks kind of pointless. It's kind of big for not much information . Your 'What Pulse' thing is much smaller and has more info.

Hey i had that but deleted it cos no one had it also i played cs source and hjave valve in a different folder so for some reason it doesn't show how much ive played.

Mine's in a different folder too. I have it in F:\Games\Steam - is that what you are talking about?

The sig image is quite pointless, but the main profile is quite cool, although the interface itself tells you the most. I'm going to remove the sig - you're right..it's pointless

It will - it just takes around an hour or so to update the first playing-time thing.

He means on Xfire when he plays games it doesn't say he is on the program.

Hmm, maybe it is in the registry as something different. Strange.

Glad you guys like it, and I realise now that the title of the topic is the least-good feature - the chatting and joining server stuff is the best, by far

yeah i have it now its really useful coz u dont have to wait 4 boring old Ip numbers on msn u clan just click joinj game

Except it is kind of annoying that to join the server someone is in you have to quit CSS to see the IP.
