Having just recently turned 17 (4 April) I have realized how scary it is to be 17. In less than a year I will be a legal adult. Don't get me wrong, I'm ready to move out of my parents' house, but I don't even have my driver's license yet (not my fault), I've never had a real job, I mean, it's scary to think that in only a year I'll be living on my own. I suppose that people have been doing it this way for thousands of years, but, it becomes even more real with each passing day.

There are other things that make this a scary age as well, school, girls, life, parents. I could go on for days. Every day I wake up, I change my clothes, and then I go to school from 7:30 a.m. (approximate time bus arrives at school) until 3:20 p.m. (bus leaves school). That's eight hours of my life that I spend at school every day. High school is a terrible place. Everything is such an act. You can feel the drama in the air as thick as pea soup. And it makes you just as sick to your stomach too.

As I've gone through school I've watched people have relationships. Relationships that never work right. Something always goes wrong. Then there is a fight. And that's it. The two never talk again. The sad part is that sometimes, just sometimes, one of the pair actually loves the other. I mean a real love. Loves this person enough that he would do absolutely anything just to ensure her safety and her happiness. Even to the extent of his safety and/or his happiness.

Life is not an easy thing to cope with for some people. The point of life, the meaning of it all, it's so hard for some to see, their eyes filled with tears as they blow the brains out of their best friends and their families. As they tie ropes around their necks and hang themselves to make the bullying stop, to end the harassment for once in their lives. I've seen both sides of this story, and it's a tragic one at that.

Everyone who is alive today has parents, whether we know them or not, whether we claim them or not, or whether we like it or not. Some people have perfect parents. They are always in attendance at every school meeting, their children are always on time to everything, they are never seen without their make-up and a smile on their face. But there are also parents who are less than perfect. Alcoholics, child abusers, sexual offenders. Parents of children who live in fear of them. Afraid of what they'll do next. Afraid to talk to them because the answer may be a passive yes or no, or it might be a violent beating leaving them barely able to move, barely alive. We all have parents, but none of our parents are exactly the same. Your neighbor is the drunk who abuses his daughter while your parents have never laid a finger on you. Or maybe you're the other child. Laying on the ground, blood in your mouth, your body black and bruised. Either way, we all have to put up with our parents. How we put up with them, is up to us though.

The teenage years are perhaps the scariest part of life. Every day is a new challenge, to see if you're good enough for the world. Every day you endure new tortures of both the mind and the body. It's a scary time, but it doesn't last long.

Happy belated birthday!

You don't need to ask for points anymore because the points system is gone Wink

Lol...Well yes, you can also get a DL at 17...Or 16(?). But I didn't cover that because I don't have mine. My mother finally sent the form so that I can get Driver's Ed. In A Box YESTERDAY, so it should arrive in about two weeks or so. And as for 17 sounding scary, if you did read my post, you may understand why I said that...Or if you even read some of the other posts you might get the idea that "[I] made some exellent ponits [points]" (Electron)... I'm not trying to reject your comments, everyone is entitled their opinion, but reading often helps the understanding of the situations...
